Welcome to Ojai

{ Calligraphy & Stamp Design by Plurabelle Calligraphy }

Jessica and Jake wanted to greet guests to their Ojai, California, wedding with something special, so they hired me to design a rubber stamp to fit in the blank space of their gift tags, which they hung on the gift baskets they gave to each guest.

April 24th was Britain’s National Stationery Day and Plurabelle Calligraphy was featured in The Guardian’s article celebrating “inspirational craftsmen and women from across the globe, working in paper and card.” I’m so honored to be a part of this line-up along side such awesome stationers. Kudos to all of you – your work is an inspiration to me!

Book Feature: I Heart Stationery

On 02, Mar 2012 | No Comments | In Calligraphy, Press, Rubber Stamps | By Molly

Yay! I’ve been so excited to announce that Plurabelle Calligraphy has been featured in the February 2012 release from Universe Publishing, I Heart Stationery: Fresh Inspirations for Handcrafted Cards, Note Cards, Journals, & Other Paper Goods. The book is an overview of the hottest trends in all things stationery that are sprouting up around the globe. Author Charlotte Rivers contacted me back in December 2010 with this book idea and asked me to submit samples of my calligraphed rubber stamp designs. Well, I’ve been waiting these 15 months to see the final product and I am beyond thrilled! More than anything, I feel so honored to be featured alongside such amazing stationery designers, illustrators, typographers and calligraphers from around the world. Many of the names in the book are ones I already knew and whose work I already admired, but I’ve also been turned on to dozens of new designers with mouth-wateringly beautiful portfolios. If you’re a fan of paper goods and beautiful hard-cover coffee table books, I highly recommend you invest in a copy today.

All the rubber stamp designs featured in my section of the book can be purchased through my Etsy shop.

season’s greetings!

{ Calligraphy + Photography by Plurabelle Calligraphy }

Remember awhile back when I’d drafted my “season’s greetings” design but still didn’t know how I’d use it? Well I eventually opted for a rubber stamp, which I used with white ink on fig-colored paper. This left a lot of room for personal notes (in gold pen!), which I always like. The calligraphy is done in white gouache with sparkly gold ink accents.

(Also, how awesome are my new vintage glass pharmacy bottles? I picked them up this summer at the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena. I love that place!)

shipments & thank yous

 { Rubber stamp orders from my 100 Layer Cake Pop-Up Shop being packaged for shipment.

I was so astonished to discover, on the day that my 100 Layer Cake Pop-Up Shop launched, that my custom return address rubber stamps had sold out within the very first hour. Today, packaging up all these completed stamp orders, I am reflecting on how incredibly flattering it is to find that people like what I do. I honestly don’t think it’s a feeling I’ll ever get used to or take for granted since it takes me by surprise every time. So to all the awesome people I get to work with, for all the lovely emails I receive every day, for all the unique and challenging projects I’m presented with that force me to think more creatively and outside the box, I would like to say:

kate & sean

On 19, Jun 2011 | No Comments | In Calligraphy, Rubber Stamps, Wedding | By Molly

{stamp design + photos by me }

i just love getting photos of what others have done with the pieces i create for them! kate + sean are getting married in a new york city bookstore in october, so they aptly chose to make their save the date cards from a set of penguin classic post cards. since the cards were irregular in size and design, they couldn’t be run through a printer, so we created a large rubber stamp that fit the space on the back of the card perfectly.

save the date…in rubber

On 11, May 2011 | 4 Comments | In Calligraphy, Rubber Stamps | By Molly

I had a lot of fun designing this save the date rubber stamp with matching return address stamp. The bride used it to stamp on the backs of vintage tourism postcards from the location of her fabulous destination wedding — Palm Springs! I also love how it looks on textured paper like the kraft cards above.
