I love it when clients send me photos of my work in its intended environment. This petite order was done for Houston, Texas-based photographer April Tracton. She planned a surprise romantic evening for her husband on their one-year anniversary, and hired me to write all the little notes she left around the house, the single menu for their table-for-two, and (my favorite) two little place cards that said avere and tenere (“to have” and “to hold” in Italian). April’s website may not be live yet, but if you like what you see and are in the Houston area, you can email her for rates and bookings!

You really don’t hear “stylish” and “camera bag” in the same sentence too often and I can’t understand why. There are infinite options for beautiful laptop bags and iphone covers, so why not camera bags? After all, cameras have been around far longer and millions of people have them. I’ve recently been on a quest to find a good bag for my own Canon DSLR and all its accessories and have had more trouble than I thought I would. Some companies do make nice ones, but it’s taken a lot of research for me to find them. So far I’ve narrowed my search to the three bags above.

Have any of you come across nice camera bags? I’d love to hear your thoughts and recommendations!

1. “The Brooklyn” by ONA, $309
2. “The Cameron Hobo” by Dre Hartmann, $200
3. “Kelly Boy Bag” in brown by Kelly Moore, $199

on this mother’s day i’m taking a look back at some very old family photos. last winter, my sister, mother and i scanned a couple hundred slides we found in my grandmother’s attic. this one (of my grandmother circa 1962) is my favorite. she looks straight out of mad men! i swoon….

i recently got a cursive typewriter (photos pending!) which has prompted me to learn a lot more about the fantastic machines and their  countless cool features and styles. i love these wonderful photographs of famous authors and songwriters at their typewriters:
